Claviers |Shadow & Light in Provence

” Amid towering stonework and lush landscapes, medieval villages bursting with life are scattered all across the south of France. Streets lined with ancient feats of architecture, peering up at them like giants, timelessly impressive. Gardens and vineyards reach out and make the transition from the modest bustle of town and the hillsides beyond. These little towns are windows in time woven into a natural tapestry of understated and simple beauty, a perfect stage for light to dance on. Breathtaking edifices and keyholes of light in serene places, this collection is a further exploration of Provence as seen from a larger than life and deeply personal perspective. “

Spencer Gordon's most recent collection of oil paintings "Claviers |Shadow & Light in Provence".  On display at Fountainhead Gallery in the mezzanine gallery space from February 17th through March 12th 2022.

The collection is a further expansion on his Provence series, which focuses on an area centered around the small village of Claviers where he spent time as a child. It highlights the architecture and the little, handcrafted details that adorn virtually everything. From wrought iron gate sculpture and carved stone statues to hammered brass fixtures and hand painted signs; it's these personal touches & the people who make them that stitch together the tapestry that is Provence.
